A price is not a prediction. It is a statement about how likely an outcome is, with a fee built into it, and everything else about betting is easier once that one sentence is doing its work. The habit worth building is not picking winners; it is reading a price closely enough to know whether it is generous.
What the decimal actually says
Serbian boards quote in decimals, and the board at Soccerbet is no exception. The number multiplies the stake, with the stake counted in. A 200 RSD ticket at 2,50 pays 500 RSD — 300 RSD of profit plus the 200 RSD you staked. At 1,50 the same stake returns 300 RSD. There is nothing else to the notation, which is why decimals are the easiest format to compare across markets.
One division turns it into a probability
Divide 1 by the price and you have the chance the bookmaker is quoting. A price of 2,00 is 50 per cent. A price of 4,00 is 25 per cent. A price of 1,25 is 80 per cent.
| Price | Implied chance | Reads as |
|---|---|---|
| 1,20 | 83% | Heavy favourite |
| 1,50 | 67% | Clear favourite |
| 2,00 | 50% | A coin toss |
| 3,50 | 29% | Live outsider |
| 8,00 | 13% | One in eight |
This is the whole technique. Convert the price, then ask whether you genuinely believe the outcome is more likely than that number. If the honest answer is no, it is not a bet, however strong the feeling about the match.
Where the margin hides
Add the implied chances across every outcome of a market and the total always comes to more than 100 per cent. A three-way football market priced 2,00 / 3,40 / 3,80 converts to 50 + 29,4 + 26,3, which is 105,7. The 5,7 above the hundred is the margin, and it is the reason a bookmaker does not need to predict anything to make money.
Two consequences follow. A market with a small overround gives better prices across the board, which is usually the main football lines rather than the exotic ones. And the margin is why breaking even means beating the price, not just being right more often than not.
Two prices on the same match
A side at 1,45 and the same side on another line at 2,60 are not the timid and the bold version of one opinion. They are two bets with two requirements, and the second needs something to happen that the first does not. Convert both, estimate how often each requirement is really met, and take the bigger gap between your estimate and the implied chance. When neither gap convinces, the match is not a bet — and accepting that is worth more than any single pick.
What a moving line tells you
Prices move for two reasons, and the two are not equally informative. News moves a price and carries information with it: a first-choice keeper ruled out on the morning of a match is a real change to a real probability. Money moves a price with none, and the weight of public money on a popular team is the commonest case of all. Watching the direction of travel says what the market believes it has learned; it does not say who wins.
Once a price is readable, the question is what to do with it: a single, a combination or a system — that is the ticket-types guide. Prices behave differently once a match is under way — see live betting — and the rest of the section sits on the betting hub.
